Atlantic Divers is now owned by Geoff and Debs
from Grantham in Lincolnshire
in England.
HELLO FROM
GEOFF AND DEBS
As the new owners of Atlantic Divers in Tenerife,
Deb's and myself, Geoff, would like to say a big
hello to all customers new and old.
Myself, I have been diving for over 20 years, mainly
in the U.K., a BSAC instructor of old, and an ex
Joint Forces Sub Aqua Diving Supervisor (SADS) .
Deb's is a none diver, in fact you'll be lucky to
get her in the sea. Challenge on lad's. Got to be
worth a pint... Seriously, her expertise will be in
running the centre smoothly in her usual relaxed
way.We will be doing our best to emulate Mick and
Nicky's high standards in training and safety they
have set over the years. We will also be maintaining
the fun side of diving, after all, it is a hobby and
when here you guy's are on holiday! So,
unfortunately you will still be getting the usual
abuse and micky taking.
Tony is still here, part of the fixtures and
fittings, chief Instructor, and working as hard as
ever. Andy will hopefully be back with us in March
2005, after his trip to Thailand.
So once again, a big hello, and hopefully we shall
see you in the near future for a dive and beer, or
beer and dive...
Stay safe.

Frequently Asked
Questions
WHAT IS THE NORMAL PROCEDURE FOR THE DAY
We will do 2 dives a day. One at 0930 hours one at
mid-day and one late afternoon around 0245 hours,
but the third boat is a mixture of snorkellers and
beginners. These are the times the boat leaves. The
first dive is the deepest dive of the day most
people are picked up or drive in at 0830 in the
morning and they will do 2 dives and be home early
afternoon. As the diving area is not in the tourist
area in Tenerife it is very hard with logistics in
busy months if somebody only wants to do one dive a
day and then wants taken home. Winter time is
different.
WHAT IS THE SURFACE INTERVAL
You will always have between 60 minutes and 90
minutes out of the water before you next dive. Lunch
is spent in a Spanish tapas bar as the food is
excellent and cheap. Our staff will change all your
tanks and reload while you are having lunch.
DO YOU HAVE OXYGEN AND FIRST AID
Oxygen and First Aid are available in 3 areas. In
our diving centre, on the boat and at the harbour.
HOW MUCH IS IT TO HIRE EQUIPMENT
Equipment is for free, you pay us for the diving and
if you need to borrow any equipment then feel free
to take whatever you need. If you pay to go jet
skiing you get the jet-ski as well, diving with us
is the same you pay one price there are no extra
costs.
IS IT BEST TO DRIVE OR TO GET TRANSPORT
If you have a hire car we do ask that you drive to
us as it does make our life a little bit easier.
HOW WILL I FIND YOU
We provide a free transport service to and from your
hotel if you don't have a hire car. But click for
directions if you don't want to wait for transport.
Families and partners can also come along providing
there is enough room in the bus. But be warned bring
a towel some days to sit on.

DO WE STAY OUT ON THE BOAT ALL DAY
No, as Tenerife is really deep water all the diving
is done on the coast. We do one dive come back for
lunch and go back onto the boat for the second dive.
We spend the lunch break at the harbour watching the
surfer's. (what a wonderful life)
DO WE OWN OUR OWN BOAT
Yes we do own our own boat. We don't use the taxi
boat system here we have our own boat for our
customers so all your equipment and diving holiday
is completely safe and organised.
ARE BOAT DIVES BETTER THAN SHORE DIVES
This is a question I am asked all the time. The
answer is no. When I say shore dive we don't mean
walking in from a beach, there are only 2 dives we
do where we walk in from a beach. As I said in
Tenerife we dive along the coast, some dives we go
on we don't go on the boat as we park the car, put
our kit on walk a few steps and giant stride into
the water. Most of the dives we do are from boat as
people think that if they don't dive from a boat
then they are going to walk for miles and the dive
will be rubbish. They couldn't be far from wrong. We
take the boats out everyday so if you don't like
boats then don't think you are missing out.
CAN WE DIVE WITH WHALES AND DOLPHINS
The answer to this is no. It is illegal to dive with
these, we do see Dolphins near the dive sites and I
have been under the water with them about 7 times
this year. It's just your luck. If we are driving
and we see dolphins of course we will stop.
WHY SHOULD WE DIVE WITH ATLANTIC DIVERS
First of all, unlike most dive centres on the island,
we dive everyday, we don't sit down and let staff do
everything. .This is just the way we do things, our
standard is very high. We know the dives and when is
the best time to do the dives.
Everybody who comes and dives with us ALWAYS comes
back. You will be our friend not just a customer who
pays us money. Our timing and organisation is near
perfect!! We will help you as much as possible on
the boat and off the boat.
DIVING RULES
This sounds very serious I know but as qualified
divers we know you like to do your own thing but we
have some rules. Everybody must dive with a buddy,
if no buddy then with the instructor. All buddy
checks must be done. Nobody leaves the boat until we
give the clear sign. Our instructor will go in first
and everybody will follow him or her to the bottom.
We want to know when you are on 100 Bar and when you
are on 60 Bar. We allow ourselves 10 Bar to ascend.
Everybody must also do a 3 minute safety stop at 5-6
meters.
THE DEEP DIVER
As we have been diving for years we understand the
need for experienced divers wanting a bit extra, we
do split a lot of the time very qualified people and
experienced divers from the rest. We have dives to
Black Coral, wreck, reefs, at 40 meters, and other
deeper or more challenging dives.
DO YOU CATER FROM GROUPS AND CLUBS
Yes we cater for groups and clubs. We have several
clubs all over Scotland, Ireland and England and
Holland who use us regularly. Visit our customer
comments page to see what clubs think of us and the
diving here in Tenerife..
I WANT TO TAKE A COURSE BUT NOT MY WHOLE HOLIDAY
Learning to dive doesn't need to take a long time.
There are lots of different programs which suit
people. You can take a short course in 3 hours or
one whole day or two days or 3-4 days. You decide
how much you want to learn.
